about Vaulterm.
Vaulterm
What is Vaulterm?
Vaulterm is a free SSH client and terminal for Windows, macOS and Linux, made by WarPulse LLC. It also opens SFTP, FTP, FTPS and S3 connections, keeps track of coding agents such as Claude Code running in your terminals, and includes Vaulterm Code, an editor for folders on this computer or a server.
Is Vaulterm free?
Yes. The Free version has no time limit and no account, and syncs up to 5 items. A Pro or Ultra license adds tunnels, Agents, more sync and more. See Pricing.
Do I need an account?
No. Only sync needs one: a Vaulterm account, signed in with a passkey, or a password with an authenticator app.
Does Vaulterm work offline?
Yes. Other than your servers, Vaulterm contacts ours only to check for updates and your license, and to sync if you turn it on.
Where are my hosts and keys stored?
In an encrypted vault on your computer. Every record is encrypted, hostnames included, using Argon2 and XChaCha20.
Can I sync between my computers?
Yes, on every plan: Free syncs up to 5 items, Pro 250 and Ultra 10,000. Sync is end-to-end encrypted: our server keeps a copy of your vault it can't read. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux today. An iPhone app is coming soon, and iPad and Android apps after it. See Sync.
What if I forget my master password?
Use the Recovery Key shown during setup. Vaulterm doesn't keep a copy of either.
Can I import from PuTTY, OpenSSH or Termius?
PuTTY and ~/.ssh/config, yes. Termius import is planned before 1.0. See Switch to Vaulterm.
Does Vaulterm support SFTP, tunnels and jump hosts?
Yes. There's an SFTP browser beside each session; local, remote and SOCKS tunnels; and jump hosts, set on a host or a group.
Can Vaulterm open FTP, FTPS and S3?
Yes. The Connections page opens SFTP, FTP, FTPS and S3-compatible storage as tabs, with their passwords and keys in the vault. SFTP is free; FTP, FTPS and S3 are in Pro. See Connections.
Does Vaulterm work with Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI?
Yes. Agents lists every coding agent running in your terminals, on this computer or over SSH, and tells you when one is waiting for you. It uses your own CLIs and accounts, and sends nothing to any AI service. See Agents.
Which systems does Vaulterm run on?
Windows 10 or later (64-bit), macOS 13 Ventura or later (Apple silicon and Intel), and 64-bit Linux as an AppImage, .deb or .rpm.
Is Vaulterm open source?
No.
Does Vaulterm have AI features?
Three separate things. Agents lists the coding agents running in your terminals, such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI (Pro), and sends nothing to any AI service. Claude in Vaulterm Code is in the Beta channel and comes with Pro, using your own Anthropic API key. Ultra's own built-in AI is planned and not shipped. See the roadmap.
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
The installer isn't code-signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
How do updates work?
Vaulterm downloads updates in the background, checks their signature, and installs them on restart.
How do I get the beta?
Open Settings → Updates, find Channel and choose Beta. Beta builds update first and may have rough edges; you can switch back to Stable there. See Download.
Does Vaulterm run on iPhone?
Not yet. An iPhone app is coming, and iPad and Android apps after it. See the roadmap.
Is Vaulterm the same as Termora?
Vaulterm was called Termora until September 2026. It isn't related to the open-source Termora terminal.
Vaulterm Code
Does Vaulterm have an editor?
Yes. Vaulterm Code is an editor inside Vaulterm, with VS Code keys, terminals, tasks and Git. It opens in its own window from the same install. See Vaulterm Code.
Can I edit files on a server over SSH?
Yes, in Vaulterm Code on Pro. Open a folder on a saved server and edit it in place, with nothing copied over first. Folders on this computer are free. See Vaulterm Code.
Does Code install anything on my server?
Vaulterm Code puts no server of its own on the host. Language servers, debug adapters and Claude Code run on the host; if one is missing, Vaulterm offers to install it, and asks first. See Vaulterm Code.
Does Claude Code work over SSH?
Yes. Run it in any SSH session and track it in Agents, or use the Claude panel in Vaulterm Code (beta, Pro). See Claude in Vaulterm Code.
Can I use VS Code themes?
Yes, in the Beta channel. The extension store installs VS Code themes, icon themes and snippets from Open VSX. See Extensions.
Can I run any VS Code extension?
No. Vaulterm Code installs themes, grammars and snippets only, and no extension code runs. It reads Open VSX, not the Microsoft Marketplace. See Extensions.
Is Vaulterm Code a separate download?
No. It comes with Vaulterm and opens in its own window from the same install. See Download.
