Vaulterm and Termius are both SSH clients with a host list, SFTP and port forwarding. Vaulterm Free needs no account, encrypts every record in its vault (hostnames included), syncs end to end encrypted on every plan, and adds a built-in editor, Vaulterm Code. Termius is further along on teams, SSO and mobile.

What Vaulterm does differently
- No account for the Free app. Download Vaulterm and connect. An account is only for sync and licences, and your vault is encrypted on your computer before it is sent: our server holds a copy it can't read.
- Hostnames are encrypted. Every record in the vault is encrypted, so a copy of the vault file doesn't reveal your servers.
- Sync on every plan. Free syncs 5 items, Pro 250 and Ultra 10,000, all end-to-end encrypted.
- An editor in the same app. Vaulterm Code opens in its own window from the same install: folders on this computer are free, folders on a saved server are Pro. Claude in Vaulterm Code is in the Beta channel and needs Pro and your own Anthropic API key.
- Pro is $5 a month, $49 for 12 months or $349 once. Ultra with a larger sync can also be bought once.
Where Termius is stronger
- Teams. Termius sells a shared team vault from its Team plan, and SAML SSO with Enterprise or as a Business add-on. Vaulterm Teams is coming later and is not on sale.
- A security report. Termius lists a SOC 2 Type II report with Enterprise. Vaulterm has no audit or certification.
- Free-plan extras. Termius Starter includes port forwarding and AI autocomplete. In Vaulterm, tunnels are in Pro, and Vaulterm AI is planned.
- Mobile. Termius lists iOS and Android apps. Vaulterm's iPhone app is coming; iPad and Android are later.
A Termius alternative for Windows
Vaulterm runs on Windows 10 and later as a normal installer that doesn't need admin rights. Both apps offer a Windows download. Vaulterm for Windows

Is there a free Termius alternative?
Yes. Vaulterm Free has no time limit and no account, with unlimited hosts, SFTP, split panes and an encrypted vault. Termius also has a free Starter plan. See the full comparison of SSH clients.
Does Vaulterm need an account like Termius?
