A free SSH client
for Mac.
Vaulterm is a free SSH client for macOS 13 Ventura or later, on Apple silicon and Intel, from one universal .dmg that has been signed and notarized since 0.0.7. Your hosts, keys and passwords stay in an encrypted vault on your Mac, with no account.

A signed, notarized .dmg for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It opens without warnings and updates itself.
⌘K opens the Command Center, ⌘T opens a tab and ⌘D splits a pane. Change any of them in Settings.
Import hosts, jump hosts and keys from ~/.ssh/config, and known_hosts, so familiar servers connect without asking again.
Sign in with keys from the agent on SSH_AUTH_SOCK, alongside saved keys, passwords and two-factor prompts.
Open your own login shell (zsh, bash or fish) in a pane, beside your SSH sessions.
Browse a server's files beside its terminal with SFTP. FTP, FTPS and S3 buckets open as tabs of their own (Pro).
Why not just Terminal
and ssh?
Terminal and ssh work, but your server list lives in a text file, and every server needs its own window or tab. Vaulterm adds what a plain terminal leaves to you:
- Saved hosts in groups that share an identity, port, jump host and theme.
- A vault: hosts, keys and passwords are encrypted, hostnames included, so a copy of it does not reveal your servers. How the vault works.
- An SFTP browser beside each terminal, over the same connection. SFTP, FTP and S3 in Vaulterm.
- Tunnels you save on a host and start with a click (Pro).
- Split panes you arrange by dragging, with input broadcast to all of them if you want.

Questions
Which Macs does Vaulterm run on?
Any Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple silicon or Intel. One download covers both.
Is Vaulterm free on a Mac?
Yes. The Free version has no time limit and no account. Pro adds tunnels, Agents and more, and activates on a Mac like any other computer. See Pricing.
Can I keep using Terminal and ssh?
Yes. Vaulterm reads your ~/.ssh files when you import and never changes them.
Does it unlock with Touch ID?
Not yet. Touch ID unlock is on the roadmap.
